In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus spoke to the eleven disciples:
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, dipping them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
To disciple means to train & instruct.
And, we know, by reading Romans 10:17:
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
IF it is our desire to share the word of God so that people we know & meet will have an opportunity to grow in faith, then THAT is what we need to do!
One morning, recently, I watched as my husband handed a man a mustard seed. JC referred to the words of Jesus Christ when He said to His disciples: “…if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” (Matthew 17:20)
Many people have a desire to share the word of God with others, but they say they don’t know the Scriptures well enough. But, when that same person, for instance, continues to return to a difficult job and a friend asks, “How do you do it? How do you continue to do a job you don’t like?”, that is a perfect opportunity to give voice to the living & active word of God. A well known, and easy to remember, word of encouragement is Philippians 4:13:
“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
Then, simply go on to say: ‘The apostle Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, said that. Read the story for yourself. It can be found in the Holy Bible!’
If they don’t have one, then provide one. Here in America, we have plenty. Not to mention, accessibility to bible apps!
Remember, our days here on Planet Earth are few.
Eternity is forever.
