and hearts, and souls…
and eternity.
We’re not here for long.
That thought occurred to me while I stood outside a convenience store, a few days ago, watching the steady stream of people going about their busy lives.
Rain & cold temperatures had not yet descended upon us, and JC & I were rather hot & sweaty after walking most of the day. When we arrive at a convenience store, JC normally tells me to go in first. But, he’d been carrying & pushing the majority of our weight, so I offered to wait while he went in to get something cold to drink.
Minutes later, my husband parked our seed spreader and we found a couple of seats inside. I picked out a couple of slices of pizza while JC took out his phone and our turn-by-turn instructions. He wanted to figure out exactly where we were and confirm we were headed in the right direction.
Turned out, he had sat down beside a mail carrier. What better source is there for accurately ascertaining one’s position and following a route? (The irony of this occasion will occur to me in the months to come).
Jason was on his break, and JC found him to be a wealth of information.
What a delightful conversation we had with him, on a variety of topics. We weren’t the first hikers he has met, and he shared with us a past experience that made us laugh. It was a refreshing way to finish our day.
Jason, it was a pleasure meeting you! And, by the way, we found the soccer complex and enjoyed watching a game and talking with some friendly folks. Thank you for everything (including mailing my letter to my son Jacob : )
God bless you & yours.
